2019 Career Exploration Conference Volunteer

Seattle Academies Foundation holds an annual fall conference for 120 high school juniors from Ballard, Chief Sealth, and Franklin. During the conference, students will learn from industry professionals about different career opportunities and how different businesses operates behind the scenes. This is the launching point for the students as they enter their Academy of Finance and Academy of Hospitality & Tourism courses for the academic year.

Conference Volunteer Headquarters: Room 208, Washington State Convention Center

Registration Desk

You’ll check students from your designated school in to the conference. They’ll receive their name badge and goodie bags from you before entering the opening ceremony room.

Bus Greeter

Stationed throughout the convention center you’ll help guide students to the right location for check-in for the conference.

Cohort Group Chaperone

You’ll spend the day with students from all three schools during their sessions. We’ll partner you with an Academy teacher to co-chaperone the group.

Lunch Support

Work with our committee member, Brent, on setting up the lunch session. Also, you’ll help with providing students their lunches and breaking down the setup at the end of the session.

Networking Session

You’ll function as an industry professional and help the students improve their networking skills. Each student and networker will have prompting questions but feel free to have a naturally flowing conversation.

Exit Survey Management

To help end the day you will distribute surveys to the students and collect them once they’ve completed the surveys.
